This week is National Volunteer Week, April 6-12, 2014!
Volunteers are vital to The Anchor's ministry here in the community of Bensenville, IL. In fact, there are only 4 people on staff at The Anchor (1 full-time and 3 part-time). If it was up to the staff to do everything, we simply wouldn't be able to be an effective ministry. We truly love and appreciate each person who calls The Anchor their "home" church and volunteers regularly. Volunteering is a great, tangible way to express our love towards God by serving and loving others; hence Love God. Love People. Or think of it this way: Volunteering is an outward expression of what is happening inside our hearts! We know people don't serve for a "thank you", but we do understand how important it is for people to know they are loved and valued. That is why we meet with our volunteers on a weekly basis and intentionally take the time to say "thank you".
Since this week is National Volunteer Week we wanted do something special to show our appreciation! Yesterday we kicked off National Volunteer Week by giving all of our volunteers a "Pop! Pop! Fizz Fizz! O What A Big Help You Is!" bottle of soda pop. In addition, we will be posting short videos from some of our volunteers as a way to share their stories of how volunteering at The Anchor has impacted their life. Check our blog daily to see their stories!
Do you volunteer in your community and/or church? Where at? How has volunteering changed your life (or someone else's life)? We'd love to hear YOUR story! Tell us in the comments below!
